Simon D’Artois takes bronze in the first FIS Halfpipe World Cup of the 2017-18 season.

National halfpipe team athletes competed in the first FIS World Cup of the season, August 31, in Cardrona, New Zealand. Simon D’Artois landed on the men’s podium in third place after an impressive run with multiple switch takeoffs followed by two doubles. Simon is from Whistler, BC where he grew up skiing as part of the Whistler-Blackcomb Freestyle Ski club. Before reaching the National team Simon was a standout member of the BC Park and Pipe Team. Watch the highlights from the men’s event below.

The women’s event saw Comox, BC’s Cassie Sharpe take top spot on the podium and the win for the first World Cup event of the season. Cassie was a long time member of the Mount Washington Freestyle Ski Club before progressing to the BC Park & Pipe team. It is inspirational for our BC athletes to watch these two alumni perform so well on the international stage.
