A Slopestyle Event

Big White Ski Resort and the Big White Freestyle Team Invite you to join us for our two day double header SlopeStyle event March 12, 13, 2016. This event is open to all ages and is designed to promote exposure to Slope style park freestyle skiing.

The Slopestyle course is located in TELUS Park.

Basic Event Information

• The slopestyle course will consist of three rail platforms and 6 jump platforms.
• This will take place in our large and medium lanes. We will have modified the course to have small, medium and large features.
• It will be up to coaches, parents and the participant themselves to evaluate their level and ride with in their limits.
• It will be a lot of fun and a great way to build on the competitive season

Entry and Registration Information

Skies who are not members of BC Freestyle must go to the following link to acquire a Can Free licence.

Coaches of teams are asked send a list of names of athletes from their teams attending by March 5, 2016 to [email protected]. Registration is open from 7AM –  8:30 AM the morning of the event at the Race office located at the White Crystal Conference room located at the top of the yellow gondola.

Entry fee

$35 for one slopestyle event.  $65 for both slopestyle events.

Please bring cash or a cheque payable to Big White Ski Resort for entry fees.  The entry fees are separate from the cost of your CFSA membership.

Big White Ski Resort requires all participants sign a Big White Special events waiver form

This waiver must be signed by a parent or Legal guardian for anyone who is 18 years of age or younger absolutely no exceptions Coaches are not considered legal guardians. Special event waivers cannot be printed out at home and must be original documents provided by Big White Ski Resort. If you need a waiver and will not be here in person please contact [email protected] to make arrangements

Competition Office

The race office is located at the top of the yellow gondola to the right hand side of the unload station in the White Crystal conference room. You can access the Gondola from the Happy Valley parking and day lodge. The race office will be open from:

• Friday, March 11, 2016. 3PM – 7:30PM for early check in and registration
• Saturday, March 12. 7AM – 8:30AM Slopestyle registration
• Sunday, March 13. 7AM –  8:30AM Slopestyle registration

Lift Tickets

Big White Ski resort is offering reduced ticket prices for all athletes at 50% off. You will receive a discounted lift voucher at the registration office that you will take to the ticket office located next door in the Village Centre Mall. Parents can purchase tickets at the resort and discounted tickets at select sport shop locations in Kelowna.

Coaches Lift Tickets

Coaches can receive a complimentary ticket if they have 5 or more athletes per coach or team. Coaches with less than 5 athletes qualify for a 50% discounted ticket coupon available at the race office.

 Age Categories

This event will follow the CFSA recommended age categories.

Rules

This competition is sanctioned by the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association and is being organized by The Big White Freestyle Club and Big White Ski Resort Terrain Park and Events department. This event will be held under BC Freestyle rules and guidelines.

Competition Format

This event is a Slope style competition. The idea is to provide more training time and exposure to slopestyle skiing, and most importantly have fun. Slopestyle will consist of a best of two run format. The Jury will retain the right to change the format depending on weather conditions and time restraints.

Statement of Liability

Big White Ski Resort Ltd and its’ associated companies, their directors, officers, employees, volunteers, guides, agents, independent contractors, representatives, successors, assigns and all those in law for whom they are responsible Shall not be held responsible for any losses or injuries incurred or suffered by any athlete, official or other person in conjunction with the organization or staging of the event. All participants are urged not to be negligent in safeguarding their personal belongings at all times. The aforementioned parties will take no responsibility for missing belongings, accident or injury.

Refund Policy

If a competition is canceled due to weather a 50% refund on entry fees will be processed. If payment was made by cheque the initial cheque will be discarded and a 50% payment will be collected from the participant. No refund will be giving for an injured athlete once they have started training or competition. Tickets are not refundable.
