Spirit Award, 2017 winners announced
May 1, 2017
The Freestyle BC spirit award is presented annually to a male and female athlete who best embody the spirit of freestyle skiing. Spirit award winners are positive role models for their teammates, focus on sportsmanship and above all, have fun when out on the ski hill, trampoline or water ramp!
Nominations and selections are made by the Freestyle BC coaches. The winners will be awarded a Ride-Only camp and early glacier lift access from the Camp Of Champions. Camp of Champions has graciously awarded a camp to both the male and female winners valued at over $900. Please consider Camp of Champions when planning your summer training this season!
We are proud to announce and congratulate the 2017 winners;
Ainsley Macdonald is the standout winner for 2017 amongst a great group of female athletes. When asked about Ainsley, Whistler-Blackcomb Head Coach, Jeff Fairbairn stated, “Great attitude, always happy and looks to be the one out there having the most fun.”
There were numerous nominations in the men’s field. After consulting with our coaches the 2017 Spirit award goes to Ethan Phillips. “Ethan is the easy going don’t make waves kind of athlete who makes everyone feel like they belong and never has a bad word to say against anyone (even his coaches)”, said Apex Freestyle Ski Club Coach, Kenni Kuroda. Ethan is a positive role model for Apex club athletes and we know he will make the most of his week at the Camp of Champions this summer in Whistler.
Congratulations Ethan and Ainsley!
