Timber Tour | tweaked
December 21, 2018
Dear Freestyle BC
Today is December 21st, Winter Solstice, tomorrow is a full moon and in a few more days we gather to celebrate friends, family and the wonder of Christmas.
Some of us around the province are revelling in the white stuff and off to a good start for the winter season. Some of us are witness to the unseasonably warm temps and unusually low snow packs this winter; which has put a hamper on some of our early season training and will affect our first Timber Tour stop at Apex.
The organizing committee at Apex has looked at all options and with little snow on the ground and not much in the forecast they have determined that they are not in a position to host the level of Slopestyle that will meet the needs of our membership.
This was not an easy decision for them to make and I am humbled by their capacity to see the needs of the membership over their own desire to host a great event.
Apex will still play host for the Timber Tour Mogul, Dual Mogul and Super Youth events on January 18-20. Please keep your eyes open for the official invitation and registration to drop here in the next few days.
Big White has generously offered to host the Timber Tour Slopestyle event for Freestyle BC on January 16-17. This was the best option of many that FBC considered to satisfy the needs of our athletes across the province.
This has been an incredible learning experience for all involved and a great example of the tight knit community that is Freestyle BC. I want to acknowledge the incredible support of the Apex and Big White Freestyle teams for their ability to work together and adapt on the fly to manage this tricky situation that mother-nature has presented us this winter.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.
From all of us at Freestyle BC, we wish you a Merry Christmas.
