2018 BC Freestyle Ski Team Announced

Freestyle BC is proud to announce the 2017-18 BC Freestyle Ski Team. The BC Freestyle Ski Team’s mandate is to place athletes on the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team.

Athletes were selected based on their results from the 2016-17 competitive season. Selection criteria is reviewed and approved the the Freestyle BC board of directors each fall. The criteria reflects our role in the high performance athlete development pathway as outlined by Freestyle Canada.

The following athletes have been confirmed to the BC Team program for the 2017-18 season:

Our program is led by the top coaches in country. Evan Wilcox will continue as head coach for the park & pipe program. Evan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his role with experience as a BC Team athlete, professional freeskier and AFP judge.

Josh Kober has been hired to lead the mogul program for 2017-18. Josh is a great addition to the program with experience as a BC and NextGen team athlete. Josh recently completed his competition development technical training and is looking forward to apply these principles to the BC program.

Darcy Downs will also work with the mogul program during select camps and key events for the approaching season. Darcy is a veteran coach having attended four Olympic Games with three different countries. Athletes working with Darcy were able to win a silver medal in 2002 and bronze in 2014 at the Sochi Games.

Both our technical programs will be supported through the Canadian Sport Institute with the addition of Andrew Kates as our strength and conditioning coach.
